1. Dirty or Clogged AC Filters — The #1 Cause

If I had to bet on one cause for 'AC not cooling' calls in Dubai, dirty filters would win eight times out of ten. Dubai's dusty, coastal environment coats your AC filter with fine sand, salt and construction dust within 3–4 weeks. A clogged filter blocks airflow across the evaporator coil, which means the coil can't absorb heat from your room. The compressor keeps running (wasting electricity) but the air coming out of your vents is barely cooler than room temperature.

4. Faulty Capacitor or Contactor in the Outdoor Unit

The capacitor is a small cylindrical component inside your outdoor unit that gives the compressor and fan motor the electrical 'kick' they need to start. In Dubai's heat, capacitors degrade faster — typical lifespan is 3–5 years here versus 8–10 years in cooler climates. When a capacitor fails, you'll usually hear a clicking sound from the outdoor unit as the compressor tries and fails to start.
